Why Canada Wont Help Mozilla’s World Record Attempt
Go here and take a look at the map. As of todays date, Canada has a total of 33, 000 pledges to download Firefox 3 on the 17th. Compared the the US or even Brazil and Poland, it appears to the rest of the world that us Canadians aren’t the best supporters of the Mozilla project - or are we?
See, I think the reason we are low on pledges is because Canadians are smart, we understand the benefits of a good browser and have jumped on the Firefox wagon years ago. You are most likely using FF2, some maybe even FF3 but why not download it anyway just for fun, I signed up just because of all the years Firefox has been there for me…
Thanks Mozilla
I wonder, does it count if you :
dist-upgrade -d
yum –enablerepo=some repo install <firefox package name>
Do apt sources or package mirrors count as a download - or does it have to be from the mozilla site?
Do you think this is just performance tuning for Mozilla? We all know alpha 4 will have an add-on to read our minds and that will require a lot of bandwidth.
Personally, I pledged anyway just to help the cause, but I see your point. I am already using Firefox 3 myself (release candidate) for developing (although I prefer Safari for general browsing). Also, most of the people I talk to around here DO use something other than Internet Explorer, and in many cases it is Firefox, but in any case, there isn’t as much motivation for them to switch.
