ShoutCast Web Management : Now Available

January 2nd, 2009

After many private messages in response to my first demonstration of this application - I have officially decided to release it into the wild.  An interested viewer contacted me on Wednesday to develop a “Simple” version of this app that gets the job done and does not require any overhead such as a database.

Here was one email :

Hey Greg.  Thanks a lot for your support.  I’m basically looking for something super simple that can be accessed through a login via web browser.  Check out the attached image.  If you notice the FTP has two playlist directories within the “httpdocs”.  While “playlist1″ is playing I’d like to be able to upload to the “playlist2″ directory.  Then I’d like to be able to click the one button and have the new “playlist2″ file names be auto written in the playlist.lst file and then have the “loadplaylist” command run after that.  I’d want to be able to have the ability to mod the script to support different directories for future adjustments.
Let me know if something like that is possible.  Thanks!

I’d just want it to be a real basic thing to launch out of a subdomain so that only the user can access and it can just be a basic php or something.  That way there isn’t any main login app for multiple users to go through.  Kinda like how that subdomain has its own sc_serv and sc_trans,,  maybe just have an admin.php for that subdirectory that will open and then mod just the stuff in that directory.  I’m just trying to keep it simple.

Like I want to upload to the folder and then just open a page with those buttons, click one of the buttons and be done.  That way if theres a simple command to adjust the “playlist.lst” then there is no way for me to screw it up.  I know if the “playlist.lst” file is setup wrong then the transcoder error.
The more basic the better.  Thanks!

With a little motivation (wink wink) he got me writing pretty quickly, it turned out awesome. You will find it very easy to install and configure and it works on any Linux system with a PHP enabled web server.  You are not limited to any strict conventions  - you can do with it as you wish.

Here is the promised installation / how to use video.

It costs $5.00 CAD and  I am offering Free email support for all customers

Shoutcast WebApp Crack-ified

December 31st, 2008

Crack-ified implying the old version took some crack and now it is this new version - just to clarify.

i can’t seem to get the Shoutcast monkey off my back. I keep trying to top my old web management apps - but a programmer is never satisfied.  Anyway I shitted this video out during some CPU intensive stuff and it is a bit sketchy - but you can see what I am up to.  This new version is going to rock your pants!

If you want this app when it is done and the bugs are squashed, I am selling it for 50 bucks - let me know if you want it.

October 14th, 2008

Late last night I was inspired to write a super fun app that allows anyone to host their own ShoutCast radio station using a simple web interface.

I created a video to demonstrate its capabilities and I hope to have even more powerful features inculded soon.

Radio Free Geekhut is on the Air

June 12th, 2008

If you have nothing better to do tonight, listen to RFG. Theres a link on the side of this page to tune in - we only got ten spots so hurry up.

The show commences at 9PM with Matt Loeb and Mike Stevens, like last week but better because they’ve had some practice.  Not sure tonights topic  but I’m sure it will be wicked cool, plus they will probably have some drinks (which you should do to tolerate the show).

We need bandwidth, so if you have some extra and you like the shoe - help us out!

We love you all.

Radio Free Geekhut - Open Mic Nights

June 7th, 2008

Radio Free Geekhut is a fun little project I have been dabbling in for almost three years but now we’re actually getting some attention.  We actually have listeners!  Our premiere show this Thursday was a huge success with a total of 7 unique visitors at one time!  Hosted by hilarious Matt Loeb and Mike Stevens, the show continued until almost 12:30 AM Friday morning when we still had about 5 listeners who just didn’t want them to sign off.  I figured this is a pretty cool idea - letting people host their own shows whenever the server is available.

We have already booked our Tuesday and Thursday prime time slots however there are still 5 days left in a week. So if you want your own radio show : send us a comment explaining why you are so interesting that people would want to listen to you for an hour.  If we like your answer - you’re in!

The show is free, the software is free and very easy to use, we will have our schedule posted at http://radio.geekhut.org within the next day or two.
